While following a Sattvic lifestyle, where can I obtain an adequate intake of calcium?
The need of calcium in our body is easily fulfilled on a satvic food system. There is a widespread myth that it is only found in dairy products. Plants, coconut, nuts and seeds have ample calcium in them. The question is not what to take for calcium, but what to stop consuming which might be leaching it from your body. Foods like coffee, tea, energy drinks, and refined sugar have a strong characteristic of leaching minerals including calcium from your body.
Calcium deficiency can be overcome by green juice and sunbathing. We think that we get calcium from cow’s milk but this calcium is mostly not assimilated or absorbed well, by our bodies. A better way is to go straight to the source! Where do cows get their calcium from? From grass! That’s where we can get our calcium too! Additionally, don’t forget to take sunfood! Sunbathing is very crucial in maintaining calcium in our body. It helps in digestion and retention. If you follow a natural healthy diet full of fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds... trust that all your nutritional needs, including calcium, will be taken care of by Mother Nature! There are also other healthy alternates like coconut milk, almond milk and cashew milk.
