Is Stearic Acid safe for us and the planet?

Stearic Acid is a fatty alcohol that is derived from coconut oil through a process called hydrogenation. In our Aloe Face & Body Lotion, it primarily acts as a thickener, emulsifier, and emollient (softening and smoothing the skin). It is used in very small percentages & can be beneficial for dry or sensitive skin. As it is derived from a plant-based source, it is renewable & as sourced sustainably, it has a lower environmental impact than its synthetic alternatives.
